Summer at a Distance

It’s Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer. It’s my absolute favorite time of year. I love everything about summer from entertaining outside and summer menus to sundresses and sandals. The kids are out of school, work moves at a slightly slower pace and everyone seems to have a little more joie de vivre in their step.

Suffice to say summer is looking very different this year. We’re all being a little more careful, keeping our distance, wearing masks and changing our travel plans because of covid-19. We’re determined, however, to make the most of this sunny happy season and we’re thinking creatively to make it happen.

Recently, we hosted a small “Socially Distanced” Cocktail Hour. We mapped out areas using blue painters tape for couples to sit together around a firepit. Each area was spaced 6 feet apart and couples brought their own folding chairs, drinks and appetizers. It was great fun catching up and being with friends! We even enjoyed sharing the recipes for the cocktails and nibbles we all brought. We plan to do a lot more entertaining like this and a great Picnic Basket set up is definitely in order! Picnic baskets also make great shower and wedding gifts!

We also have friends planning a Front Yard Barbecue for Memorial Day. Move the grill to the front yard, set up your card table for dining and voila! Instant party with your neighbors. You can keep the grill meister well equipped with all the right Tools and even a stylish and functional apron (available soon.) Setting a pretty and festive table complete with brightly printed Cloth Napkins adds to the fun. If you’ve followed us for a while then you know Rattan Chargers are our favorite way to support a paper plate and our mini Preserved Boxwood Wreaths look as good as a candle ring as they do tied around a ginger jar.

Finally, we’re going to make the most of the outdoors this summer whether it’s a trip to the beach or the park and that means being at the ready. We’ll be prepared with a “prepped” GO Bag that includes a Blanket that can stand up to sand or sod, Masks, wipes and water.

Just like the happy arrival of summer, we’ve introduced a number of new products to help make the sunniest season fun and carefree.

Cheers and Soonest!
